On Thursday, May 1st, Governor Lamont said he was hoping to allow a certain businesses to reopen on May 20th.
In order for the Governor to allow the re-opening, Connecticut will have had to have 14 consecutive days of decline of COVID-19 cases, as well as a number of other conditions.
With a week of back-to-back declines so far, many in Bethel are optimistic about reopening. "We’re excited to be opening back up and celebrating with a welcome back sale," said Brittany Murphy, owner of Brittany Shears on Greenwood Avenue. "We look forward to seeing you," she said of her customers.
Restaurants would also be allowed to serve sit-down dining outside, with social distancing. Bar areas would still be off limits.
