Last week, Bethel Board of Finance member Cynthia McCorkindale created an informal online survey in an attempt to gather information on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the local economy and local citizens.
With over 200 survey participants, some patterns have emerged, according to Ms. McCorkindale.
"Over 67% of those surveyed have experienced a negative financial impact due to the COVID response." she said. "While 9.7% have had a family member with the virus." The results include 45% of those surveyed with either themselves or a family member filing for or receiving unemployment benefits.
The survey was opt-in, and was posted on several Bethel social, political and resident Facebook forums.
