Since April 2018, a dedicated group of knitters and crocheters have been meeting weekly at the Library.
Members bring their own projects to work on as well as contributing to the group's charity efforts.
As a group, members have donated over one hundred preemie and newborn hats to the Danbury
Hospital. They have made scarves and hats that are handed out in the Library to anyone in need.
Recently, members knit and crocheted 8" squares and then sewed the squares into blankets for children who have suffered illness or trauma. The group collected so many squares that they have fourteen blankets to donate to the local chapter of Project Linus in September.
Group members plan on continuing to make hats and scarves for Library patrons in need. The group also hopes to make a donation of hats and scarves to Operation Gratitude in November for active duty military personnel.
The group is happy to accept donations of handmade hats and scarves for these causes, as well as yarn to make more items for people in need. New members are invited to join the group any Tuesday morning at 11.
