Workers have begun demolishing a Bethel landmark on Blackman Avenue.
The Daniel Hickok House was badly damaged during a fire in December of 2014. After reviewing the options, the current owners determined that the best course was to raze the historic building and rebuild.
Bethel settler Daniel Hickok built the house in 1760 and is said to have hosted revolutionary generals during the American Revolution in 1777, and may have planned the Battle of Ridgefield at the house.
Demolition was all but complete as of press time at the 13-16 Blackman Avenue home.
Plans are to rebuild the home.
